Fantastic Bush

I am a bit obsessed with these digitally rendered shrubs that I stumbled upon. You can see more digitally rendered items here.

The fleeting moment

I just took another look at Jay Wolke's "Along the Divide" project, which consists of photographs made along Chicago's Dan Ryan Expressway. The images are so amazing. They embody a circumstantial, compelling spirit. If you haven't seen them, take a look.

I almost forgot...

to add this image of my mom preparing me breakfast with her handy baconwave. She is the best!

Visual Diary

Like I said a few posts back, I am in a bit of a photography slump. I am bring the fun back by starting a visual dairy of things I see that are cool. Nothing serious, just me and Zach's 4 mega pixel digicam circa 2004. Here are a few from my weekend trip home.

This is the ceiling in my car. Thanks to an exploding coke can, I have a lovely homage to the solar system! So artsy.

I went to sweet wedding while I was home. We trashed the reception hall with silly gag favors.

This is what my house looks like these days. Sweet decor yo!

Romantic Blogginess

I am new to this whole blog thing, and I think I am addicted. It is funny though because I feel like I keep looking and looking, and my intensely selective brain starts to alter itself into a less intensely selective state. The whole presentation is very romantic, and bloggers keep talking about this image or that image getting stuck in their mind. I can sympathize with that feeling, but it seems easy to get wrapped up in the presentation of an image as good instead of the image actually being good. It is kind of nice though, this romantic notion of any photo being declared amazing by simply existing on the web and being seen by another blogger.

Yale

Just checked out some recent Yale graduates' work on their MFA website.

My classmates and I know everything, and we unanimously agreed that this pic rocks, and is the best.

surfin'

I have been browseing the net a lot recently to find portfolio sites I like/don't like to model my own site after. I found this image from a link to Brian Waddis' site on wanderlustography. This particular image really struck me. I ilke its graphic quality and uncanny juxtapoitioning.

Books and Babies

This is officially the summer of distraction. The BF just moved in, and brought this...

and I have planted little babies to keep me company. This is basil, tomato, mini sunflower and forget me not.

I am also taking webdesign with Brian Ulrich. Here is one of his pics that was recently featured in the NY Times. Check out his website or his blog (link in my links section).

sooo many distractions.
I have managed to shoot a little bit, so keep an eye out for some new pics.

one year down

As the school year was coming to a close, my work hit a bit of a rough patch. I feel like I clarified a few ideas for myself, but I haven't been making many photographs that I have been happy with. Here are a few new ones that further explore ideas of contextual distinctions between manufactured and natural objects and the landscape's ability to naturalize and distort what it contains.

Also, a new website is in the works. Look for a link soon!
